Hi guys, hope you're all doing well?. I thank God exams are finally over, everything didn't really go as planned but thanks to God i made it. Today i'm just going to rant, maybe not.
So of late i have heard so many Africans saying, (nigerians specifically) "oh i don't go to church cause it's more of a fashion show house than a church", now that's an insult to God, calling his house a showcase of fashion . First of, what's a church? it's a place of worship and corrections,
formerly called the synagogue in the older days. We go to church to worship God and listen to his words for correction, not to look at what people wear. I don't know much about other African countries but i know we Nigerians always try to look our best when we go to gatherings (e.g. church). We all know all hands are not equal someone's best might not be yours, so don't go about saying the Lord's house is a fashion house. An outfit to church, once it's modest and appropriate is anything but wrong. Let's not forget that not everyone that comes to church comes with the right intention. some people come to get better, maybe some people come to show off but that shouldn't be your focus, if you've come for the purpose of worshiping God you wouldn't even care about the details of a person's outfit. Personally i think when coming to church, your mindset should be going to worship God and learn more about his words to be better. So why bother yourself with someone looking better than you?(if you even consider it so)
Secondly, let's try to dress modest to church, it's a church not a party house, why wear something you are not comfortable with to church, do you feel better being called out for your dressing? i think that's quite embarrassing, it's the Lord's house try to do everything with modesty and caution. Let's help each other, tell a friend when you think what they wearing ain't right rather than slandering, if the person doesn't listen let them be, they'll get it along the line, some people learn better the hard way, hopefully we all would learn. We are all flawed in one way or the other. Let's go to church for the right reasons and don't stop because of someone's action, like the bible says "it's a personal race". I wonder, would you tell God you didn't go to His house to worship because of someone's action? Go to church with your mind and heart, not your eyes and mouth. And yes it's a sub to all of us.
I totally agree with you..thanks for bringing it out.
